The Church was rebuilt in 1968, under the leadership of
Pastor W.J. Johnson. Other Pastors to tread the path of
the Peters Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church were:
| Reverend T. Alexander Reverend John B. Owens Reverend M. Williams Reverend Jones Reverend Flint Reverend Brazell Reverend Gamble Reverend Grimes Reverend Franklin Reverend R.L. Tyson |
Reverend Matthew Robinson Reverend R.B. Bass Reverend Dr. W. Ray Hill Reverend O.L. Duncan Reverend Dr. M.S. Colquitt Reverend Eddie Oliver Reverend Bobby L. Jacobs Reverend Dr. Mark B. Cisco Reverend Sherryl H. Sneed |
Under the leadership of Reverend Matthew Robinson, the kitchen, bathroom, pastor's study and back annex were added. The sanctuary pews and central air conditioning unit were purchased and installed under Reverend R.L. Tyson's second tenure.
Under Reverend O.L. Duncan, the handicap ramp, walk area in front of teh church, brick poles and mail box were constructed. Also at this time, two acres of land were purchased from Brother Julius Rogers. This land will be
the location of the new Peters Chapel A.M.E. Church Worship Center.
Elder Carl Colquitt's leadership included the paving of the church parking lot and
the purchase of our first computer. The parsonage was attained under Pastor Oliver's leadership. Peters Chapel also purchased a church van and installed lighting around the parking lot. Pastor Oliver donated the chandelier in
the center aisle of the church. The church at that time attained clear title to the church deed.
Under the leadership of Pastor Bobby L. Jacobs, there has been tremendous growth in the membership and unity. There have been renovations of the church parsonage. A radio outreach ministry program is going strong and reaching many out side of the church. Peters Chapel has purchased a Hammond B-3 organ, a new Clavinova electric piano and new audio equipment. A new computer system has been
purchased
with more on the way.
